Whereas most of the larger animal charities tend to provide treatment centres for sick animals or in some cases bring cases to vets for subsidised treatments, we have introduced a totally different approach to providing veterinary care for the pets of the financially less well off sectors of our population in the UK.
WE MAKE USE OF THE EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE OF 3,500 veterinary clinics located throughout the UK. There is little need to establish more treatment centres even though they might be located in financially deprived areas. Such centres are costly to establish and run and, in many cases, when the character of an area changes, so does the local population, rendering these centres unsuitable for their original purpose. The Medivet Animal Trust purchases pet health insurance policies which are awarded to financially disadvantaged members of the public who find paying private veterinary fees difficult.
